CD Storage Cases And Their Benefits
So what would we do with all of our CD's, DVD's, Blu-Ray's and other optical discs if we had to just stack them up in endless piles, pile after pile? Well we would probably lose them, damage them
or just plain never see them again. That's typical for most types of items that are small in nature and tend to look alike every other kind of the same thing. They are even the same color most of
the time! The best way to protect and organize these disks is with the use of a CD storage case. CD storage cases are very useful when used
properly, and when you have the right case for your application or your particular set of needs.
The biggest downfall of DVD's, CD's and all other optical discs is that their reading surface is prone to damage. Once the surface develops blemishes, the ability to playback or read the disc is
greatly diminished and may be completely impossible. It can be as little damage as a light scratch or even a little abrasion that looks like haze, and the disc will be permanently damaged and the
data, music or movies on it will be unrecoverable and lost forever. It's for that reason that protecting your discs becomes and important consideration for just about any home or business.
Typically speaking most people are familiar with CD storage cases but only because that's where they stick their CD's when they keep them in their car's. These types of small wallets are ideal
for those purposes but quickly begin to lose their usefulness once your collection of discs grows beyond what you carry with you in your car every day. But there are a variety of higher capacity
CD storage cases that are ideal for home or office use as well.
Of course, not all CD storage cases are only meant to in car use. It's actually the complete opposite. The largest segment for them is the in-home or in-office use. There are a variety of hard
shell style plastic jewel cases for discs that will be a very good job of protecting them from a variety of possible damages. The one weakness in these is that if you step directly down on them,
the case can break and no longer protect the disc inside. However, that is not a standard scenario and as a result they are often considered very dependable and reliable protection measures
against optical disc damage.
There is also something intermediate like the portable CD storage cases that can hold up to 20 CDs. One example would be the Discgear Discus. It has a high-impact rubber base, securing your CDs
inside. Because it includes a wrist-strap, you can carry it anywhere with you.
Another type is the CD wallet. If you open this type of CD storage case, you may be able to flip the transparent CD sleeves or pockets where the CDs are placed, much like flipping through the
pages of a book. With this, you not only store and protect your CDs from damage; you can also easily arrange them. The price of this type of CD storage cases depends on the material used to make
the item. It can come in nylon, synthetic leather or original leather. This is a worthwhile investment; and it is also stylish.
Ultimately the goal of any CD storage case is to keep your discs safe. You will find some cases with additional safety features that might be great for your application. Water resistance, even
water proofing is just one example of this. You can also find cases that offer more exotic benefits such as temperature resistance that will keep your media within a reasonable temperature within
a certain range of the exterior temperature. The reason for this is that heat can wrap the plastic of the disc, so this is a huge benefit if you live in very warm climate's. You can even find
bullet proof CD storage cases, but at this time we can't think of a sound reason for why one would need a bullet resistant case.
